A black light, also known as a UV light or ultraviolet light, is a type of lamp that emits ultraviolet radiation (UV) in the long-wave (near ultraviolet, UVA) range, with minimal visible light emitted. While some UV lamps may emit significant amounts of visible light alongside ultraviolet rays, a "black light" typically denotes a lamp that incorporates a dark blue optical filtering material in its glass envelope or housing. This filtering material blocks out a significant portion of visible light, resulting in predominantly ultraviolet emissions.

It's important to note that Black Light Vision does not generate UV light.
